Solar street light common problems and solutions

Problem discription Problems cause Solution
Can not lighting up during the night    The battery is not charged or has been damaged Turn on the switch to charge the battery during the day, turn off the switch at night,

repeat for three days and then turn on the switch at night to detect  whether the light is on,

if the light is on, it means the battery is activated.

There is a strong light shining on the PV panel,

which causes the controller todetermine that it is daytime causing it not to light up.

Move the solar panel out of the position of strong light exposure or change  the direction of the solar panel so that it is not exposed by strong light.
The PCB has been damaged. Change the PCB.
The solar charge controller has been damaged. Change the solar charge controller.

Short light-up time at night    Continuous rainy days that causes the battery not to be fully charged
Solar panels do not face the direction that is exposed to the sun for long periods of time, the battery can not be full charged. Turn over the solar panel to the direction of the sun, and full charge the  battery.
The solar panel is covered with a shade and the battery is not fully charged Remove the shade above the solar panel to fully charge the battery
Change in capacity due to self-damage of the battery Change the battery.

How to determine whether the battery or solar control is good or damaged
(3.2V SYSTEM-can check the sticker on the battery)

Step1. Please put the controller connect to the PCB and connect to the battery and connect to the solar panel, at the same time cover the solar panel well not to the sunshine. And prepare a multimeter. And then, take the multimeter to test the voltage of the battery, if the voltage of the battery is higher than 2.7V, it means the battery is good, if the voltage is less than 2.7v, it means there is something wrong with the battery.

Step2. please take off the solar panel and PCB and solar charge controller, only to test the voltage of the battery, if the voltage is higher than 2.0V, it means the battery is good, if the voltage is 0.0V - 2.0V, it means there is something wrong with the battery.

Step3. If step 1 checked with no Voltage but step 2 with the voltage >2.0v, then it means the solar charge controller is damaged.

And prepare a multimeter. And then, take the multimeter to test the voltage of the battery, if the voltage of the battery is higher than 5.4V, it means the battery is good, if the voltage is less than 5.4v, it means there is something wrong with the battery.

Step2. please take off the solar panel and PCB and solar charge controller, only to test the voltage of the battery, if the voltage is higher than 4.0V, it means the battery is good, if the voltage is 0.0V - 4V, it means there is something wrong with the battery.

Step3. If step 1 checked with no Voltage but step 2 with the voltage >4.0v, then it means the solar charge controller is damaged.

How to determine whether the battery or solar control is good or damaged
(12.8V SYSTEM-can check the sticker on the battery)

Step1. please put the controller connect to the PCB and connect to the battery and connect to the solar panel, at the same time cover the solar panel well not to the sunshine. And prepare a multimeter. And then, take the multimeter to test the voltage of the battery, if the voltage of the battery is higher than 5.4V, it means the battery is good, if the voltage is less than 10.8v, it means there is something wrong with the battery.

Step2. please take off the solar panel and PCB and solar charge controller, only to test the voltage of the battery, if the voltage is higher than 4.0V, it means the battery is good, if the voltage is 0.0V - 8V, it means there is something wrong with the battery.

Step3. If step 1 checked with no Voltage but step 2 with the voltage >8.0v, then it means the solar charge controller is damaged.
